Call for Comments

The results from our “Call for Comments” survey are in! Thanks to everyone who completed a survey form or attended our meetings.

Our survey was mailed to 418 Rensselaer County farmers/agribusinesses/producers as well as posted on our website. We had a 21% return rate and garnered several pages of responses and comments. We received responses from Extension supporters in 13 of the county’s 14 towns, from the villages of Hoosick Falls and Castleton to the City of Rensselaer. Comments were also collected from participants who came to the two public sessions held on February 24 at the Brunswick Community Center.

Our Agriculture Program Committee and the CCE Board of Directors met in March and reviewed the results. They’ve determined that hiring a combined farm business management/livestock educator will fit a large number of the needs expressed and will be the first priority. Addressing agronomy and forestry is planned for the near future. Consideration of entering into a regional program to address specialization has been explored. We look forward to having new educators on our team soon and sharing updates on our evolving program and steps taken to increase our capacity to meet the needs of our Agriculture Community.
