Come find out how the components of a healthy compost work together to bring life to the plants we grow for pleasure and sustenance. Learn how to make your own from your kitchen scraps, grass clippings, leaves, and other materials you might ordinarily throw away. Not only does composting transform these substances into plant food, but it prevents them from ending up in the landfill.
Donna has been a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener volunteer for over 25 years. Growing up in the Adirondack mountains gave her a love of nature which she has always appreciated and the older she gets, the more interested she is in the workings of the natural world. Donna lives in Hampton Manor, and her garden has been on the CCE's summer Garden Tour twice. Walkers around the lake might be familiar with the hillside garden and have seen her and her sister working in it. Since retiring in May, her next adventure is to perfect her compost tea this summer!
This is the second event of the Sustainability Series! The East Greenbush Library will feature four gardening events on the first Tuesday of the month from June through September 2026.
